Getting it Done

This week has been unbelievably busy and jam-packed with papers, exams and rehearsals for a concert tomorrow. I didn't have as much time to work on the posters as I would've liked, but from Tuesday to Thursday I laid out the title panel, Martha Reeves, and Otis Williams stories. After Friday, my schedule clears up considerably, so I can devote the time I need to the posters.

I've decided to have 6 posters, sized 24x40. The posters are as follows:

Stevie Wonder/Marsha Cusic
Smokey Robinson
Martha Reeves
Otis Williams
John Joseph
Elizabeth James
and Title poster - Intro, project statement - 11x17

I will have all of these completed for Tuesday, so that the coming weeks I'm just going to chug along and edit.

Here are some images from this week:

WHAT NEXT

I definitely need more white space for the stories to breathe, so I'm going to work on that as well.

I'm also going to explore using images that would enhance the story itself.

Work, work, work.

  1. Michelle,

Are you making separate posters for the two fans you interviewed as well? This is a big change.

My overall comment is that I'm missing context for each story you have-- a sense of why it's important for me to be interested in any of these people. For example, I don't know anything about Otis Williams, and reading the vignette leaves me empty since I still don't know much about him after reading it.

We need more information/background to contextualize what's special about these stories. And we need to know who's even "speaking." (It's not clear!)

A poster of this size offers the opportunity for multiple layers of information and story. Your job is to maximize that potential and make us care about these folks as much as you do!

It seems like you're giving over a huge amount of space to map graphics. Are those informative or decorative?

Let's plan to take a look at your next iterations on Tuesday.
