Friday Twelve

After slight discouragement and a kick in the ass, I'm working on the scripts for Smokey, Martha Reeves, and Diana Ross. I'm going to talk to my best friend Gina about these people and record our conversation to pick out personal narrative within the biographical one. I feel this would be easier since the tour is meant to be heard and not read.

These scripts will be mostly completed for my Tuesday mock presentation. I'm also putting together a mock-up visual of the map that will go along with the tour.

I've also established all of the places on my tour:

Smokey Robinson - Northern High (outside of)
Martha Reeves & Levi Stubbs - Orchestra Hall (formerly Paradise Theater)
Diana Ross - Brewster-Douglass projects
Otis Williams - Northwestern High (outside of)

I've also been asked through the CAAS dept of LSA to be on a student panel for their Motown Symposium in February. I'm really excited about this.

  1. Michelle,
A quick clarification of our conversation: you may in fact decide that you are no longer interested in making this an actual tour with singers, etc, but regardless of the final form you still need to develop the material in an interesting, engaging way that is different than anything I could read in one of the many books already out there on Motown.

Once you have developed your "scripts" -- ie, your content, Motown as seen through your lens -- you can figure out if it is a performance or a 2D artifact, or a 2D artifact with an audio track, or....

  2. Also, congrats on the invite from CAAS. Sounds like a good connection to be making! H
