After talking with Stephanie about my frustrations and discouragement, I went back through my process to the beginning. I didn't give the installed panels enough of a chance. I gave up on them when I thought that there was no possibility of the panels becoming a reality. I know and feel now that I can put together a very solid proposal for them and create mock-ups.
I realize this completely discards my tour, but I don't feel like I'm settling. I know this will be hard work, but attainable. I will still be creating a map along with the panels that can combine the ideas and places that would have been on the tour. Now I can start putting together images and history to create a visually stimulating and educational product.
Finally, I can create work. I don't feel stuck in something that wasn't inspiring me to move forward.
WHAT NEXT
I'm starting to put the map together and combine all of my research.
PS - My thesis is horrible. I will definitely be rewriting the entire thing.
